— FIRST IMPRESSIONS —

APPEARANCE River is very much what you'd consider waifish: 5'6, roughly 100lbs; thin and pale, with clear signs of not regularly seeing the sun and eating just enough to survive. Her hair is long, brown, and slightly wavy; you might catch her while it's wet and stringy because she is a human disaster and will definitely wander around after showering without properly drying her hair. Her eyes are brown and may be a bit unnerving to some, as she stares very openly at things she's curious about and seems to be looking through people to see something that ain't there.

After Event #18, she has retained part of her god form that is now visible only in her veins. They begin to glow when she's in a heightened state of emotion (eg. excitement, fear, etc). This feature matches Istredd and Cassian as her beloved starfam. 💖

CLOTHING She has no fashion sense and doesn't care for fussing about her clothes, so she'll wear anything that's given to her. In Thorne, this generally means simple flowy dresses without any corsetry or fancy details. I'm thinking more like Chinese-inspired hanfu than Western fantasy dresses, so this and this. She's not a fan of shoes, so she can typically be found barefoot or, if absolutely necessary, some type of slipper or boots that are totally inappropriate for her nicer clothes. River also likes to steal other people's clothes so if you lend something to her, don't expect to get it back. :')

DEMEANOR She's got the overall demeanor of someone that's Not Quite There in the head. River tends to wander from place to place, curiously observing things without really paying attention to the rest of her surroundings. She can be quiet and demure while also shamelessly all up in someone's business. Her speech is often very cryptic, confusing, or outright nonsense - or in her more coherent moments, hyper-logical while spewing off weird tidbits of factual information. She's also prone to fits and meltdowns on bad brain days, so it's not entirely unusual to see her screaming or crying from time to time. Generally speaking though, she's sweet and playful, like a child that's just playing a game as she moves through life.

AURAL Somewhat soft spoken, a little sarcastic, and super cheeky. Here's a clip on youtube!

OLFACTORY Think of the cheapest kind of soap you can imagine, then apply that to a limited quantity while hurtling through space with seven other people. Clean, but not overly so. An otherwise neutral scent. She might occasionally smell like dirt or flowers if she's been rolling around in the garden that day.

• age 4: Two children run through a plush garden with well manicured grass, decorative shrubbery, colorful flowers, and healthy trees bearing the starts of unripened fruit. River's hair is a shade lighter and shoulder-length, tied back with a ribbon that matches her dress. Her brother Simon chases along behind her, ten years older and wearing what looks like a prep school uniform that snags on branches and leaves as they go, laughing and shrieking along the way.
  
  A distant voice calls out to them, although the figure isn't visible, warning them not to get their clothes dirty. Both children chime "Yes, mom!" in near unison without pausing in their game. River says, "Don't trip!" and Simon guiltlessly goes, "Huh?" right before his foot snags on something and he goes tumbling into the grass. The memory ends with her bright laughter as Simon leers up at her from the ground, amused and fond, then charges back at her to continue chasing her around the yard.
