( her phone had ran out of juice on the train back to panorama, and wanda hadn't bothered to charge it or check in again until several hours after they've made it back into the apartment. she had left it to charge on the floor, then went about organising the things from the trip, realising a lack of contents in the fridge. she is considering a trip to the grocery store when pings from her phone push her attention back towards it.
she sits down on the carpet and pulls it up towards her, careful not to dislodge the cable from the charging port.
it's a late response to a message, something about cassian burning something in the kitchen. )
[ river doesn't expect an immediate response any time she texts wanda. after being encouraged to reach out to her more often, it's more like a fun way of sending her random thoughts and updates without explicitly needing a conversation to follow; she's prone to getting distracted or wandering off herself. if was urgent, she'd say as much or call instead.
as it is, she just smiles when a response comes through several hours later. ]
thanks. we stayed longer what we had originally planned.
( which means, then, that it had been a rather nice trip if they had decided to stay longer. she certainly would have hoped that river had sorted out her potential food crisis by now, so that's good to hear. )
are you busy? i brought something for you. david's out again, but i can pick you up.
i just need a few groceries. come with, i'll let you buy something you'll like for dinner. maybe we can get you some shampoo and conditioner of your own, too.
( david isn't using his shitty skoda, so wanda takes it out from the building's parking garage to head out and pick up river. it's light blue, and the car's quite curious by itself, having the engine at the back rather than at the front. david constantly complains about it, but wanda has found that it doesn't give her any trouble at all.
reaching their meeting place doesn't take wanda too long, and she makes sure to send river a message after she finds a spot to park across the street.
she waves from the window when she sees the teenager, and helpfully adds, )
